Paddock to Plate is a 100 hour, 1 year course, offered in Year 9.
It encompasses learning related to raising plants and animals on the school farm and learning about every step from the farm production to marketing and use of technology to produce and transform the product. To then culminate in a harvest festival where students showcase the products they have produced at a lunch.
A large amount of time will be spent on practical activities, with some theory related to support the practical tasks. Some other topics to be covered include:
Supply chains in local agriculture
Technology in agriculture
Whole farming planning
Business development for new agricultural industries.
Paddock to Plate relates to growing food and this subject provides an insight into the process of growing, processing, cooking and selling food products and understanding where food comes from.
Assessments will be based on assignments and practical activities.
Students will be involved in all aspects of paddock to plate of the products they grow and raise. Students will engage in project based learning activities to achieve this.

Today's agriculture requires farmers to work beyond the farm to sell their products. Many new careers in agriculture are based on paddock to plate industries.
