Parking

Street parking is available close to the school gates located on Flushcombe Road, Valda Street, Benaud Street and Joseph Street. Please adhere to parking restrictions signposted and do not park across the driveways of local residents.

The school carpark is strictly for staff only. Parents may access the driveway before 8:00am and after 4:15pm to drop off or pick up from Before and After School Care only. A boom gate is operational in our school driveway between 8:00am and 4:15pm and will not allow access to any parent vehicles.

SCHOOL GATE PROCEDURES

The three laneway gates on Benaud Street, Valda Street and Joseph Street will be locked by 9:45am each day. These gates will be unlocked in the afternoon at approximately 2:45pm. Parents and caregivers should not come onto our school grounds until 3:00pm, 15 minutes prior to pick-up. Between 9:45am-2:45pm, access to school grounds will only be possible via the Fluschcombe Road gate.

Signing In and Out of School

Students who arrive late to school must present at the office to sign in and register their attendance at school. If students need to leave early, a parent or guardian must sign them out at the office before picking up the child. A slip will be printed by the office staff and must be presented to the classroom teacher to ensure school policies are followed.

Assemblies

Kindergarten students attend an assembly in the hall once a fortnight. Classes take turns to host the assembly. You will be notified when it is your child's turn if parents are permitted to attend at the time. Entry to our school at this time will be via Fluschcombe Road gate.

Scripture

Under the Education Act 1990, section 32, government schools allow time for special religious education (SRE). It is delivered by authorised representatives of approved religious groups to students who have nominated that religion. These classes are held once a week on Thursdays. A participation letter must be completed when enrolling your child at Blacktown South Public School to officially notify the school of your choice of SRE. You can notify the school in writing at any time if you would like to change your decision. If you do not wish for your child to attend SRE, they will participate in alternative activities.
