Ballina Coast High School are pleased to advise that we will be conducting a cultural boy’s program once a fortnight for years 7 & 8. The program aims to empower our young people to be proud of their Culture and to become respectful leaders within our community. Students will develop a sense of self and build upon their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity by listening to stories and sharing their own experiences. Our aim is to immerse students in their Culture with the support from local community members to guide them along their journey.
Some topics that will be covered over the course of the year are:
• Respect/Leadership
• Dreaming Stories
• Acknowledgement/Welcome to Country – the difference between the two.
• Healthy lifestyles
• Culture & Identity
• Art and symbols
We look forward to working with you and assisting us to provide our students with the cultural knowledge they need for the future.
Take Care, Steve Scott & Jason Davies
