Esmeralda Salgado is one my guru teachers and I really love the activities she presents.
The whole webinar is 1 hour 15 minutes including final questions and she gives useful tips not ony for GCSE but for language teaching in general.

My takeaway from this webinar is undoubtedly the 5 magical powers for GCSE:
3 time-frames
giving opinions in different ways (diría que, me parece que, puede ser que(
giving reasons using high-impact expressions
reported speech
high impact expressions and idioms
Keeping these in mind while doing backward planning is key to success.
Also, I found mind-opening some of the following tips:
When we practice speaking, we aim to have a general conversation.
When we design the questions for general conversation, we should use questions from photocard and role-play whenever possible.
We need to link writing and speaking by using bullet points from writing papers for oral practice.
Asking questions in role-plays: get students to practice with these 3 questions: ¿Qué opinas de ....?, ¿Te gusta .....?, ¿Hay ....? 90% of questions can be asked using these prompts.
Each time you finish a topic, ask students to answer general conversation questions in writing. In this way, they will have a model answer.
Ask students to prepare a writing task every two weeks. Be clear about the instructions. Then, in class, they will have to write it from memory.
Use the principle of I DO, WE DO, YOU DO. There is a big emphasis on modelling, and Esmeralda gives some handy resources.
Activities that I will use in class:
Speaking: Inversed taboo
-prepare cards showing a topic and 3 high-impact structures / key vocabulary.
- Divide the class into pairs and give them a set of cards and a die.
In pairs, students take turns taking the cards and rolling the dice. They must speak on the given topic for 10 seconds for 1, 20 seconds for 2, 30 seconds for 3, 40 seconds for 4, 50 seconds for 5, and 60 seconds for 6.
- The partner must time the performance and guess 3 expressions of the cards. They get a point for each expression they guess.
Speaking: the buzzer game
divide the class into 4 teams
prepare questions on the topic(s)
give thinking time to students who will answer the questions (the team is allowed consultation)
To identify the first person who answers (and be fair), I use the EzBuzzer app. Students love it.
