Alcumus is a challenging adaptive online learning system from the Art of Problem Solving which is designed to provide additional practice to complement their textbooks and online courses. It covers pre-algebra, parts of algebra I, and other topics. Alcumus does not offer lessons, but the Art of Problem Solving (AOPS) videos can help with instruction.

EdReady, is a free online resource to help students prepare for algebra 1, the ACT and SAT, common college entrance exams, and other goals.
Students select their goal and are given a corresponding diagnostic assessment. Based on the results of the diagnostic, EdReady creates a customized student learning path which includes video instruction, warm-up exercises, practice problems, and quizzes. Answers are scored electronically.
Students will need to register for a free account to save progress, but EdReady may be explored without an account by clicking on the "get started" button and then selecting "enter as a guest."
EdReady is not designed as a course, but many of the same instructional resources are used in the HippoCampus Algebra 1 Semester 1 and HippoCampus Algebra 1 Semester 2 courses. EdReady and HippoCampus are both provided by the the non-profit NROC Project.

Khan Academy began as a math resource by has a growing amount of content in other subject areas. It offers an extensive collection of interactive screencast tutorials as well as free, electronically-graded practice exercises. Videos are typically between three and twelve minutes in length and offer clear, direct explanations and demonstrations for how to complete math problems.

Khan Academy does not offer placement tests or diagnostic assessments, but the "course challenge" at the end of a course could provide helpful feedback about student abilities, as well as a serve as a review of material and a way to practice for other tests.
