Science Olympiad

Students participating in the Science Olympiad attend and compete in several tournaments during the school year. These tournaments are rigorous academic competitions that consist of testing or building events. Students prepare for events by attending study sessions after school and studying on their own. Test events, which are completed in pairs, involve taking a written test and sometimes hands-on experiments. Build events, which are completed in pairs or teams, involve constructing devices to solve certain problems and testing the device at the competitions. These challenging events focus on various science disciplines, including biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers and technology. The John P. Stevens’ Science Olympiad team has successfully competed in regional and state level tournaments annually, with the potential to compete at the national level. Students from all grade levels are encouraged to apply; however, the application process is highly competitive and involves completing an application form as well as passing preliminary tests. If you are a competitive student who enjoys challenging themselves in the area of science we encourage you to apply!
