Concert Choir

Concert Choir meets every Thursday from 2:35-4:00 p.m. and is open to all students at JPS. No experience or audition is necessary. All students involved in the JPS Choir program are also members of Concert Choir. Concert Choir performs at least twice a year and sings music of a wide range of genres and styles, from classical to contemporary. Students also learn how to develop confidence as individual singers while learning the basics of music notation as well as listening skills. For any questions, or if you're interested in joining, please email Mr. Lee--We can't wait to meet you!

A cappella

A cappella Ensemble is the entry-level audition choir at J.P. Stevens. Students in Concert Choir interested in auditioning for A Capella must be able to hold their voice part in a quartet. A capella meets as a class every school day, as well as the full ensemble rehearsal every Monday evening. The J.P. Stevens A Capella Choir has been very successful throughout the years at chorus festivals including the Roxbury Invitational, the Middlesex County Choral Festival, as well as the annual Spring Choir Trip. The A Capella Choir performs at least four times a year in concert in addition to outside performances. The repertoire performed in this choir is diverse and challenging four-part harmony music.

chamber

Chamber Ensemble is the most select choir at JPS. New members are admitted to Chamber through a selective audition process; students are expected to be able sight-read and be able to sing in close harmony. Chamber meets every day as well as weekly on Monday nights and performs music of a college-level ensemble. They are frequently involved in community outreach and fundraising for non-profit organizations.
