Greenhouse:  Hydrophilics and Seeds of Change Clubs

These clubs are year round clubs that meet on Saturday. There is a strict attendance policy and you must apply in the fall to be a member of any of these clubs. These clubs require manual labor outside in the fall, winter, spring, and summer.

The Courtyard will have flowering ornamental plants as well as produce. Courtyard work entails: planting of flowers and produce, mowing, mulching, weeding, and pest management. The club meets on Saturday all year long.

Hydrophilics members work in the greenhouse and work with the water aspects of growing food. The hydroponics table, dutch bucket systems, and all other forms of hydroponics in the greenhouse are maintained by the Hydrophilics. These members also monitor the watering schedules and make sure we are watering sustainably and manage pests. Hydrophilics help with the harvesting of all produce grown hydroponically.

Seeds of Change are the members in the greenhouse that maintain the soil aspect of the greenhouse. They maintain the inside and outdoor beds of the greenhouse, the seed inventory, the pallet beds, pest management, mowing and weeding, and help with the harvesting of the produce grown in the soil.

Produce grown by all groups is sold in the farm stand or donated to organizations such as Hands of Hope and other local food banks.

Club requirements for all members are to actively fundraise throughout the year in addition to attending local community events such as Earth Day, trail maintenance, and stream/beach ups.
