Land acknowledgments recognize the enduring relationships between Indigenous Peoples and their homelands.
For Indigenous Peoples, land is not just the ground, but also the sky, the water, the air, the plants and animals, and everything that lives under the ground.

In the Avon Maitland District School Board, we learn, live, and work on the homelands of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabeg. We honour the continued presence and deep traditional knowledge of the First Peoples on this land. As partners in the Huron Tract and Saugeen Treaties, it is our obligation to uphold the legal and specific rights of these treaties. In the A.M.D.S.B., we are committed to being truth-tellers and reconcilers.
