The First Nations Resource Development Scholarship was launched in January 2026.
The government is investing $10 million over three years to create new scholarship opportunities for First Nation students interested in pursuing careers in resource development.
It is available to status and non-status First Nation students who are from or connected to a First Nation community in Ontario.
Students are required to apply for the scholarship in each year of their program but it is not merit based
The Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security (MCURES) will post an updated program eligibility list for Year 2 of this scholarship in August 2026 and Year 2 applications will launch in September 2026.
Students can connect with the Financial Aid Office at their institution in September to confirm their eligibility.
