Avon Maitland District School Board’s Acknowledgement of Traditional Lands:
"We acknowledge that we are on the traditional land of the Anishinaabe Peoples. We wish to recognize the long history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and show our respect to them today. We recognize their stewardship of the land; may we all live with respect on this land and live in peace and friendship."
A message from Dr. Lisa Walsh, Director of Education
We all must pay attention and strive to work together to promote inclusiveness and welcoming environments. As an education system that strives to prepare students for their next step and for a changing world, we must promote acceptance, equity and inclusion, and encourage our students and staff to stand against injustices that they may witness or experience.
Avon Maitland District School Board is committed to honouring and celebrating a strong sense of identity for each of our students. We recognize the role that education can play in building a positive, equitable mindset and embracing diversity. We commit to actively promote equity, challenge bias, eliminate stereotypes, promote acceptance and know every individual we serve.
