PBL at Namadgi

PBL stands for “Positive Behaviour for Learning”. PBL provides a framework for our school community to collectively support the wellbeing of every student through building on our school values of Respect, Caring, Learning and Positive Attitude. A key feature of PBL is to provide clear and consistent expectations for behaviour for everyone.

PBL expectations

Along with our core school values, PBL provides a set of over-arching school-wide social skills that we want our students to master. These are: Be Respectful, Be a Learner and Be Safe. These expectations are displayed on signs around all parts of the school including VPAC, the canteen, the library, the gym and the front office. Students have been explicitly taught the expectations, when and where they should be used and what the expectation looks like and sounds like.

“Namas” – reward system

“Nama” cards are an acknowledgement system designed to give positive feedback leading to improved self-concept and increased motivation to learn. Students receive “Namas” which are positive acknowledgement slips for when they are displaying any of the PBL expectations of: Be Respectful, Be a Learner and Be Safe. These cards are entered onto our system and allows students to accumulate points towards a higher certificate award system and a range of prizes.
