IT FAQs

Chromebooks

The ACT Government started a program called “Better schools for our kids- technology enabled learning program” in 2018. The program ensures that every student in years 7 to 11 in ACT public school gets access to a Chromebook device to enhance their learning experience.

BYOD (BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE)

Families who do not wish for their child to have a government supplied Chromebook will have to arrange purchasing one at their own cost. The school is not liable to pay, repair or maintain the personally arranged devices.

Students must bring their Chromebooks charged to school each day. In the event that they are not charged, there is a spare charger in each classroom. Failing this they can be taken down to the ITO office (in the library) to be exchanged.

Chromebook Loan/Replacement

Students are expected to bring their Chromebook fully charged everyday at school. However, students will be allowed to borrow a loan Chromebook for the day if they forget theirs at home. Note: Loan availability will be subject to supply.

Lost/Stolen/Damaged

Students must report any lost/stolen and damaged devices immediately to the IT office in the Library.

We have measures in practice to trace down and remotely disable the lost/stolen devices so no one can use them.

The department provides repair services for the Chromebook covered under warranty.

Physical damages and vandalism will not be covered under warranty, hence no repair services provided.

What happens to the Chromebook when a student moves, completes or leaves the school?

When a student leaves the ACT Public school system permanently or moves to an interstate school then they will need to return their Chromebook and chargers to the school before they leave.

If a student moves from one ACT Public School to another they are allowed to take their devices to their new school.
