Over the years, we have found that students who succeed in (and enjoy!) engineering ...
Are self-motivated: There are no letter grades in engineering. You are expected to do work not because you want a good grade but because you care about the work and like working as a team.
Are creative: You like coming up with new ideas and trying them out
Like to tinker: You like to fix things, build things, make things that work (or work better).
Work well with others: Almost all the work in engineering is in the form of group projects. You need to feel responsible to the group and be willing to talk, and more importantly listen, to other people's ideas.
Are detail oriented: Often the difference between a project working well and not working at all is in the details. Details should matter to you
Follow through on things: You finish what you start, you read instructions, and don't skip steps (including this application!) This becomes very important when making complex things with other people.
Can get along without study halls: This is more of a practical thing but engineering meets during all your study halls. You have to be willing to give them up in order to take engineering.
