The engineering course meets twice a week during what would be a student's study halls. As a result, students who take engineering in middle school don't have study halls and can't meet with the learning center at those times either. It is a hands-on, group oriented class where students learn about engineering by making things. In 7th grade we focus on simple mechanisms, robotics, simple physics, coding. The class is ungraded but students are given detailed feedback about all their work. There are projects but no major tests or quizzes, and a small amount of homework. The goal is for students to develop a set of skills for being creative, building, problem solving, and working in teams to create things that make a better life and a better world.
