A teacher may be granted up to six (6) paid counselling sessions in situations where there is a serious concern about the health and welfare of the teacher. The counselling sessions must be undertaken with an appropriately trained professional and are funded by the employer.
For full details, please see section 20.4- of ASV Enterprise Agreement 2019.ASV are excited to launch a new Employee Assistance Program (EAP) in partnership with Converge International to support the wellbeing and mental health of its employees. This is a faith-based service that offers anonymous and confidential counselling services to our permanent employees and is free of charge. Converge’s counsellors have qualifications as mental health clinicians and can assist employees with access to additional support through referrals to external services, specialised information and resources.
Each permanent employee is entitled to eight (8) sessions per year. (At the present time this is service is only available to our permanent employees and not partners or dependents).
Employees can contact Converge directly on 1300 772 435 to make an appointment. During your initial contact with Converge, you will be asked some screening questions which will include if you would like to select the faith background of your clinician. You will be required to let Converge know who your employer is, please let them know that your employer is Seventh-day Adventist Schools Victoria.
Note: For those staff who are already accessing counselling through our current policy, please continue to submit your invoices to either Lorraine Anthony or Fiona Thomas for reimbursement.
