STAYNOR HALL ACADEMY NEWSLETTER
Friday 12th June 2026
Dear Families
This week has seen the very first Nursery School Trip! Miss Powell and the team organised for all children in Nursery and Tiny steps who wanted to attend to visit Boston Park Farm with a family member as well as the nursery staff team. They all has the most wonderful time and have created some very special memories. I am sure this trip will now become a permanent feature on the nursery annual calendar!
We also had a group of 20 children visit the Houses of Parliament this week. The children and staff faced considerable delay on the way down but showed nothing but patience and resilience as they had to board an additional two trains before they arrived at Kings Cross, we could not be any prouder of them. The outward journey did not hamper the children's enthusiasm and love of the trip and learned a great deal about the running of the Houses of Parliament, something they will always remember.
Thank you as always to our staff who put so much time, energy and commitment to making such experiences happen for our children.
Summer Fair
Next week we will have our annual Summer Fair, it will take place after school on Thursday and we would welcome hearing from any parent and carers who are able to help us ensure the event is a success. It is a big fundraiser for us and the money raised goes back into school to buy resources for our children. If you are not able to help we would certainly welcome your attendance to share in the fun with us!
With very warm wishes,
Mrs Winter

Apple AirTag and tracking children on school trips
It has been brought to our attention both locally and nationally that parents/carers are using devices such as the Apple AirTag to track children on school residentials/trips/visits/outings. Other devices can also include electronic watches that are essentially tracking devices with the capability of sending video footage from the device back to the person tracking i.e. parent. Such devices have the potential to post locations of children’s whereabouts on social media. We are therefore advising schools to include this in the consent slip which parents sign prior to taking part in a trip that such devices will not be allowed under any circumstances and must not be hidden in pockets/bags etc. If any tracking devices are found on pupils they will not be allowed on the trip and will be returned to school.
Apple have released the statement below which can be found on their website:
“AirTag was designed to help people locate their personal belongings, not to track people or another person’s property, and we condemn in the strongest possible terms any malicious use of our products”
We are an allergy aware school.
Nuts are prohibited on school site, and should not be put in children's packed lunches or brought in as a playtime snack.
Including school trips and events.
Thank you
We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a Tesco Stronger Starts Grant to support the development of our new sensory garden!
Thanks to the incredible support of our families and local community, this funding will help us create a vibrant outdoor space where children can explore, play, learn, and relax. The sensory garden will be filled with exciting features designed to engage the senses, encourage curiosity, support wellbeing, and provide opportunities for imaginative play and outdoor learning.
We know how important outdoor experiences are for children's development, and this project will create a wonderful environment for our pupils to enjoy for years to come.
A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for us in store. Your support has made a real difference, and we can't wait to share our progress and see the children enjoying their new sensory garden as it comes to life!
Something very exciting is coming to Staynor Hall this half term – the very first Staynor Stars talent competition!
A few weeks ago, Miss Smith introduced the event during assembly, and you may already have spotted the posters displayed around school.
We would love to see our children showcasing their talents! Whether performing solo or as part of a group of up to five children, all acts are welcome. Singing, dancing, gymnastics, magic, comedy, playing a musical instrument, or any other special talent – if your child would like to take part, please encourage them to practise at home and take part in their class audition.
Each class will vote for a winning act, which will become their class representative. These finalists will then perform in a special parent showcase on Wednesday 1st July at 5:30pm.
The excitement will continue with the Grand Final on the afternoon of Thursday 2nd July, where the finalists will perform in front of the whole school and a panel of very special judges!
If you have any questions, please contact the Music Team via email.
We can't wait to discover the amazing talents of our Staynor Hall stars!
Thank you,
Miss Fawcett, Miss Smith, Miss Schofield and Mrs Lazenby

New Clothes Recycling Bin – Support Our School!
We’re excited to share that a new clothes recycling bin has been installed on the school grounds! This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, reduce waste, and support the school at the same time.
We encourage families to donate any unwanted clothing and shoes. Every item collected helps to raise valuable funds that go directly back into supporting school activities, resources, and opportunities for our children.
By using the recycling bin, you’re not only helping the environment by giving items a second life, but also contributing to the continued growth and success of our school.
Thank you for your ongoing support — every bag makes a difference!
What's Cooking?
This week I finished working with children from Team Calder who have been making a Greek Salad. They have all done an amazing job and showed such determination. Well done to you all.
This week I have been working with Team Humber. They have very kindly been making cupcakes with me in preparation for the school fayre next week. They will continue to make more cakes next week and then have the enjoyment of icing them in preparation for the big day. As a thank you to the children, they got to take a cupcake home with them.
Please show your support next Thursday by attending our cake stall where you will be able to purchase these delicious cakes (gluten free, egg free & dairy free will be available too).

We are aware of a viral trend circulating online where children are encouraged to heat soft “squishy” toys (sometimes called NeeDoh or jelly cube toys) in a microwave.
This is extremely dangerous. When heated, these toys can burst and release hot contents, which may cause serious burns to the hands, face and skin.
What you can do:
Talk to your child about the risks of copying online challenges or trends
Remind them that not everything seen online is safe or accurate
Ensure squishy toys or similar items are never heated or microwaved
Encourage your child to come to you if they see something online that concerns them
