STAYNOR HALL ACADEMY NEWSLETTER
Friday 27th March 2026
Dear Families
We have had a very short, but none the less busy half term, the five weeks seem to have flown by and it feels hard to belive we are at the end of the Spring Term. With slightly warmer weather in recent weeks we look forward to the Summer Term and all of the opportunities that will come with it.
The children have filled our hearts with Easter spirit today with the most wonderful Easter Bonnets, such incredibly creative children we have! It has been a joy to watch the children move through school with their creations and share their pride with one another. We have also had our traditional Easter Egg hunt, special thanks to Miss Schofield who has organised this for us all to enjoy. I'd also like to give a special mention to our Y6 children who all supported the children in Tiny Steps and Team Esk, carefully holding their hands and taking great care of them to find their Easter egg on the school field, it was very special to see.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank our staff team for their dedication and committment to our children and famlies, the staff always go above and beyond and I am very grateful for each and everyone of them.
That leaves me now to wish all of our families a very special Easter, I hope you have time to rest and enjoy time with your loved ones, we look forward to seeing all of our children safe and well on Monday 13th April.
Warm wishes
Mrs Winter

Apple AirTag and tracking children on school trips
It has been brought to our attention both locally and nationally that parents/carers are using devices such as the Apple AirTag to track children on school residentials/trips/visits/outings. Other devices can also include electronic watches that are essentially tracking devices with the capability of sending video footage from the device back to the person tracking i.e. parent. Such devices have the potential to post locations of children’s whereabouts on social media. We are therefore advising schools to include this in the consent slip which parents sign prior to taking part in a trip that such devices will not be allowed under any circumstances and must not be hidden in pockets/bags etc. If any tracking devices are found on pupils they will not be allowed on the trip and will be returned to school.
Apple have released the statement below which can be found on their website:
“AirTag was designed to help people locate their personal belongings, not to track people or another person’s property, and we condemn in the strongest possible terms any malicious use of our products”
We are an allergy aware school.
Nuts are prohibited on school site, and should not be put in children's packed lunches or brought in as a playtime snack.
Including school trips and events.
Thank you
What's Cooking?
This week I have continued working with Team Wharfe making healthy sandwiches. We have particularly focussed on what makes a healthy sandwich and have been introduced to what food group each food item belongs to (protein, dairy, carbohydrate, fruit/vegetable, spreads/oils). We have also looked at whether our food comes from a plant or an animal and had a discussion about where bread comes from.
The children have had the opportunity to use new skills including spreading and cutting. They then had the opportunity to eat their sandwich whilst listening to the story of The Tiger Who Came to Tea. Well done to all of the children this week, they have all worked so hard and their sandwiches looked delicious!
I will be doing some work with our Year 6 children the first week back after our Easter holiday but will then continue working with KS1. I look forward to welcoming Team Humber and Team Ouse into Cook School very soon.
May I take this opportunity of wishing you all a very happy Easter!
