Good afternoon,
We hope you all had a lovely Easter break! The children have had a wonderful first week back at school and have settled beautifully back into their routines. It has been so nice to see their enthusiasm and smiles as they return to learning! We are very excited for the summer term and all of the engaging and fun activities we have planned. Please see Tapestry for an overview of what we will be learning this term.
This week, the children have been recapping the Easter story and discussing its meaning. They have produced some brilliant independent dictated sentences, and we are very proud of their efforts and growing confidence in writing.
In phonics, we have now finished our Phase 3 learning and will be moving on to Phase 4. This stage focuses on helping the children to read and spell longer words, including those with double consonants (such as bl, tr, nd). We will also continue to build fluency and confidence in reading.
This week we have sent home a copy of the new Phase 4 ‘tricky words’ in your child's book bag. Regular practice at home really supports the children’s progress, so any time you can spend going over these words together will be very beneficial.
In maths, we have been learning about weight and capacity through a range of practical and hands-on activities. The children have enjoyed comparing objects, making predictions and using the vocab 'light' and 'heavy'. Please check your child’s book bag for some home learning linked to this area.
Important information:
As of next week our PE day will be Friday instead of Wednesday. We are lucky to have Coach Caitlyn with us for the Summer term on a Friday morning to deliver some amazing PE sessions with the children!
As always, thank you so much for your continued support—it really does make a big difference to your child’s learning.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
