Good afternoon,
It has been lovely to be back together with the teams this week! In English,we enjoyed extending our narrative writing to a longer piece still set in a tense Roman amphitheatre. This week we focused on making sure our writing stays exciting and flows by using varied sentence openers. In Maths, we have started our new fractions unit and have been securing our understanding of parts and wholes and equal and unequal parts. In History we learnt about Cartimandua and Bouddica, two Celtic warrior queens who had different responses to Roman power in Britain. It has been a busy week but it is great to be back and keep moving into the warmer weather!
Coming up next week:
Creative curriculum: Next week we will be looking at the question ‘How did the Romans change Britain?’
English: We will be writing our independent disaster stories set in Pompeii on the day of the infamous volcanic eruption! The children will have the opportunity to show off their new grammar knowledge and keep thinking about the effect they want to have on their reader.
Maths: We will continue looking at unit fractions, including using fractional notation to represent unit fractions as well as showing them in other ways.
