Good afternoon,
We hope you have all had a lovely Easter break and are ready for a very busy and exciting half term. We have had a lovely day on our school trip to Boston Park Farm and are all very proud with how the children have engaged throughout the day showing curiosity and enthusiasm. They loved meeting the animals, exploring the farm and taking part in the workshops. It was a lovely hands on experience that really brought their learning to life.
Reminders next week -
In Maths, Year 1 are beginning a new topic of measuring. We will be looking at using a ruler to measure in cm. We will also be looking at which objects are heavier and lighter using a set of scales.
In Year 2 we will continue exploring money. We will also be looking at our times tables, focusing on the 5 and 10 times tables.
In Writing, we are beginning to innovate our own version of Farmer Duck.
Changing books:
To support with reading in school we are changing the day we are sending new books home. Please can book bags and reading records be sent to school on THURSDAYS.
REMINDERS:
This half term, our PE days will be Monday and Friday.
HOMEWORK:
Your children will bring home their reading books on Thursday. We ask that you read with your child 3x a week and write in their reading records each time you read.
The children who have read 3x, will be giving a raffle ticket to be in with a chance to win a prize.
We know reading is essential for your child/ren and we thank your support with this.
Every Friday, Year 1 will now be bringing home a phonics home learning sheet looking at sounds that we have covered throughout the week. Any extra practise would really support your children's reading journey.
Below is a list of KS1 common exceptions words. These are a list of words that the children need to be able to read and write - although this isn't homework as such, it may be useful to practice these at home. Across Key Stage 1 we are working really hard to improve spelling and handwriting so any support with this at home would be greatly appreciated.
Any questions, please come and ask us.
Thank you for your continued support,
Team KS1
