STAYNOR HALL ACADEMY NEWSLETTER
Friday 20th March 2026
Dear Families
I'd like to say a huge to all of our families for the incredible donations of chocolate and Easter eggs during our recent non-uniform day! Your generosity is much appreciated and will go a long way toward supporting our fundraising efforts. Speaking of which, raffle tickets are now available for purchase at the school office or playground; we have some fantastic prizes up for grabs!
In other exciting news, we were delighted to host a visit from the English Hub this week. They spent time observing phonics teaching across Early Years and KS1, and we are thrilled to share that the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. It is always so wonderful to have our staff’s hard work and our pupils’ progress recognised by outside experts.
It has been lovely to see the children enjoying the sunshine this week. We hope they have many more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors over the weekend and into our final week. We have lots of exciting activities planned for the final week and look forward to sharing those experiences with you all.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Kind regards
Mrs Winter

Apple AirTag and tracking children on school trips
It has been brought to our attention both locally and nationally that parents/carers are using devices such as the Apple AirTag to track children on school residentials/trips/visits/outings. Other devices can also include electronic watches that are essentially tracking devices with the capability of sending video footage from the device back to the person tracking i.e. parent. Such devices have the potential to post locations of children’s whereabouts on social media. We are therefore advising schools to include this in the consent slip which parents sign prior to taking part in a trip that such devices will not be allowed under any circumstances and must not be hidden in pockets/bags etc. If any tracking devices are found on pupils they will not be allowed on the trip and will be returned to school.
Apple have released the statement below which can be found on their website:
“AirTag was designed to help people locate their personal belongings, not to track people or another person’s property, and we condemn in the strongest possible terms any malicious use of our products”
We are an allergy aware school.
Nuts are prohibited on school site, and should not be put in children's packed lunches or brought in as a playtime snack.
Including school trips and events.
Thank you
What's Cooking?
This week I have continued working with Team Aire. We have been making healthy sandwiches. We have particularly focussed on what makes a healthy sandwich and have been introduced to what food group each food item belongs to (protein, dairy, carbohydrate, fruit/vegetable, spreads/oils). We have also looked at whether our food comes from a plant or an animal.
The children have had the opportunity to use new skills including spreading and cutting. They then had the opportunity to eat their sandwich whilst listening to the story of The Tiger Who Came to Tea.
I also started to work with Team Wharfe and will continue to work with them next week.
Well done to all of the children this week, they have all worked so hard and their sandwiches looked delicious! Team Aire have particularly worked well and have really impressed me with their progress in Cook School. So much so, I really struggled to pick a Star Baker so I decided on 4 in the end. A special well done to those children.
