WEEKLY UPDATE
Good afternoon,
We have had a lovely week in Reception and the children have been working incredibly hard. Thank you to everyone who attended Parents’ Evening – it was wonderful to meet with you, share your child’s learning, and talk about their next steps. We really value these opportunities to work together to support the children.
This week, we have continued our “People Who Help Us” topic by learning about the fire service. The children have done a fantastic job with their spelling, labelling a firefighter’s uniform and equipment. They were also very interested in looking at photographs of firefighters from the past and noticing how things have changed over time.
In phonics, the children have been reading words containing two digraphs, and we are so pleased with the progress they are making. Next week, we will be moving on to longer words, including words ending in “-ing” and compound words such as “farmyard” and “rooftop.”
A big thank you to everyone who has managed to complete three reads at home this week – it really does make a huge difference. Regular reading both at home and at school is vital in helping the children to build confidence, fluency, and understanding. If you ever need any support with reading at home, please don’t hesitate to speak to Mrs Murray or Miss Slinn – we are always happy to help.
In Maths, we will be continuing to practise number formation and will be exploring part, part, whole models using the numbers 1-5.
Thank you again for your continued support. We hope you have a lovely weekend.
Warm regards,
The Reception Team
