Good afternoon,
We have had a fantastic week this week. The children have worked really hard on creating their own set of instructions on how to make a jam sandwich. They started the week off by making their own.
Next week is a really busy one, filled with Easter activities including Easter Bonnet Parade and our famous Easter Egg hunt.
Please see the important dates on the main page for more information.
We will be having a day and a half of DT next week focusing on sewing using new skills to create their own reusable shopping bags.
Reminders next week -
Friday - Easter Bonnet Parade
In Maths, Year 1 will be finding tens and ones of two digit numbers.
In Year 2 we are focusing on arithmetic skills.
In Writing, we are starting a new topic based on the book 'Farmer Duck.' We will be focusing on story telling by learning the structure of the story.
Changing books:
To support with reading in school we are changing the day we are sending new books home. Please can book bags and reading records be sent to school on THURSDAYS.
REMINDERS:
This half term, our PE days will be Monday and Friday.
HOMEWORK:
Your children will bring home their reading books on Thursday. We ask that you read with your child 3x a week and write in their reading records each time you read.
The children who have read 3x, will be giving a raffle ticket to be in with a chance to win a prize.
We know reading is essential for your child/ren and we thank your support with this.
Every Friday, Year 1 will now be bringing home a phonics home learning sheet looking at sounds that we have covered throughout the week. Any extra practise would really support your children's reading journey.
For Year 2, we would like them to practise their additive facts to support addition and subtraction, they will be coming home with a sheet to help with this today.
Below is a list of KS1 common exceptions words. These are a list of words that the children need to be able to read and write - although this isn't homework as such, it may be useful to practice these at home. Across Key Stage 1 we are working really hard to improve spelling and handwriting so any support with this at home would be greatly appreciated.
Any questions, please come and ask us.
Thank you for your continued support,
Team KS1
