Dear Families
This week Teams Dove, Derwent and Foss have all participated in a school trip to the North Yorkshire Moors at Ravenscar. The purpose of the visit was to give the children first hand experiences of rural landscape, hamlets, villages and natural and human features. Children were able to give direct comparisons to their home town of Selby. The children were a credit to us all and displayed exemplary behaviour, we are very proud of them all.
This week we have shared information for our open morning for those families considering joining us. We have a wonderful Early Years area which accommodates children who are as young as 2 years old. Our open morning will be on Saturday 18th October from 9:30am-12pm. We would appreciate you spreading the word and encouraging families to come and visit us. We have a poster attached which we would be grateful if you can share.
Parent consultations will take place after October half term and will be on the 4th and 10th November. Information will follow nearer the time, however, we wanted to share the dates with you now.
Have a lovely weekend, with very best wishes
Mrs Winter
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child in school please contact myself,
Mrs Cowling or Ms Steunou who are the safeguarding leads.
Please can we ask that your child does not ride their bikes or scooters on the school grounds.
Children are not play on the wooden trim trail before and after school.
Children are not play football on the field and playground before or after school.
As the school continues to grow the playground is getting busier and busier and it is important we keep everyone safe.
We would also like to encourage parents and children to not cross roads where visibility is reduced to ensure that roads are clear before crossing.

What's Cooking?
I have been working with children from Team Loxley and Team Calder this week. In preparation of our annual celebration of languages and culture day, we have been making Spanish Magdalenas. Magdalenas are light Spanish lemon and olive oil muffins. The children learnt about their ingredients, seasonality and used a globe to locate the countries that our ingredients may have come from. All children demonstrated that they can work efficiently and safely. The children took their bakes home so I hope they shared them with you!
I have also worked with the PhunkyFood Ambassadors this week. Continuing with our celebration of languages, they made a lovely Mexican Frijolemole dip which was shared with LKS2. All the children learned about the ingredients in the dip and most of the children thoroughly enjoyed eating the dip with pitta bread, breadsticks and carrot sticks. Some adventurous children even enjoyed a very spicy version of the dip. It was a very enjoyable afternoon. A special thank you to my Ambassadors, they have done an amazing job supporting me in Cook School this week.
I will continue to work with Team Calder next week before I move on to the LKS2 children.
