These are the classroom rules and expectations the second graders and I will discuss in Room 107:

1. Listen to others

2. Be responsible for what you say and do

3. Work together as a team

4. Be respectful and kind to all

5. Always do your best

These guidelines for behavior directly align with my goals for your child as a second grader, as well as align with the school-wide behavior expectations. Our classroom rules will not be used to humiliate or scold a child who is having difficulty. Instead, the child learns to take responsibility for his/her own actions. Good decision-making skills are highlighted and practiced while the child’s dignity is always maintained.

Not only will we discuss our class rules at the beginning of the school year, but we will also discuss what each rule "looks" and "sounds" like when in action. This will ensure that each student has a deep understanding of what each rule means and how it applies to them.
