meet the teacher

Hello, my name is Sara Lechner. This is my third year teaching 2nd grade! I graduated from Elizabethtown College in May 2021 with my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Special Education. Throughout my time at Elizabethtown College, I had a wide variety of teaching experiences that allowed me to grow into the educator I am today. I have had experience teaching in grades Pre-K-3, as well as a substitute teaching experience in 4th grade. I have also taught in a number of special education settings, such as Learning Support and Autism Support in a variety of schools. Much of my teaching experience took place in schools that surround the Elizabethtown area, however, I was born and raised in the Lehigh Valley. I graduated from Northampton High School in 2017, before heading off to college. I currently live in Nazareth, PA with my incredibly supportive parents. I also have a younger brother, who attends East Stroudsburg University.

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy exercising, shopping, cooking with my mom, and spending time with friends and family.

I have always loved working with children and watching them grow. As your child's teacher, I am inspired to create a classroom community rooted in exploration, collaboration, creativity, diversity, and engagement. I will ensure the safety and security of your child each and every day they walk into my classroom. All students will be treated with respect, acceptance, and kindness, and I will expect the same in return from them.

Here are a few of my favorite things:

My parents and I at my college graduation.

My brother, Kevin, and I at his high school graduation.

My boyfriend, Richie, and I are high school sweethearts! This year will be our 9th anniversary together.

My two best friends that I met in college, Emily and Carly.

Some of my best "teacher" friends from college.

Throughout my four years in college, I was part of the Elizabethtown College Dance Team. We danced for sporting events and other special events on campus!

Here I am on my first day of 2nd grade!
