Center's Technology Resources - All students have been provided Chromebooks with carrying cases and chargers. The district provides new Chromebooks to students in Grades 1, 5, and 9, and then students keep the same device for 4 years. So, at Center School, 4th grade students will have the same device they've had since 1st grade, while 5th grade students receive a new device at the beginning of the school year.

ParentSquare - https://www.parentsquare.com ParentSquare is the primary communication tool our teachers, schools, and district use to communicate with families. Teachers post classroom announcements and direct message with parents. The school and district send out weekly bulletins and announcements. Your information in ParentSquare is also used for emergency notifications like school closings and delays, so you should be sure to keep your phone numbers and email address current with the school office.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q) I can't remember my username or password.
A) Almost all student usernames are a combination of their last name, first initial, and then @easthamptonps.org. Most passwords are in the format number, adjective, animal. Like 2PurpleCats or 12JumpingWhales. If this hint don't help, classroom teachers have a list of their students usernames and passwords.
Q) My Chromebook won't turn on. What should I do?
A) First thing is to make sure it's charged or at least plugged in. If it still won't turn on, try holding the power button in for a full 20 seconds. Then release the button and press it again for just one second and release. If it still doesn't turn on, you should notify your teacher and they will get in touch with the IT Department.
Q) Something is wrong with my Chromebook. What should I do?
A) Your teacher is your "Go-to" person for issues with your device. If they are unable to resolve the issue, they will get in touch with the IT Department to get it fixed.
Q) How is the district keeping my child safe online?
A) The primary tool the district uses is a content filter called iBoss. iBoss blocks many webpages that are inappropriate for students to access. In addition to inappropriate online content, the district also blocks certain types of websites, like games, video and streaming music websites, as they are often too distracting for students and can be very disruptive to teaching and learning. The iBoss system also logs student internet usage so administration can review a student's activity when necessary. These tools are in place on all devices within the school district AND on the Chromebooks that students are provided even when they are used outside of school.
Q) Can teachers see what my child is doing on their Chromebook?
A) Yes, the district uses a screen sharing and remote viewing program called GoGuardian Teacher, which allows a student's teachers to monitor students screens in real time.
Q) Can my child use their own device instead of the school's?
A) In school, the answer is no. If at home, students may use their own devices, however the district won't be able to support their use for tools like Google Meets. Many students use their own home computer to access their online resources. The best way to do this is to use the Google Chrome web browser on your computer and setup a profile for the student within Chrome using their @easthamptonps.org Google Account. Provided you approve when prompted to "Link Data", all the students shortcuts and extensions will load on your home computer.
Q) What if my student shares their password?
A) We do not want students sharing their password with anyone except a guardian. If you think your child has shared their password please notify their teacher and they will ask IT to reset it.
