Sign up for Jazz Ensemble auditions in the band room and attend the first Day 1 Jazz Ensemble rehearsal on 8/26/2025
Pick up an audition piece from the correct folder. Folders are located on the shelves just behind the timpani in the band room.
You will play ALL selections marked on the audition music in pink/purple brackets.
NOTE - There are a different number of audition selections and audition lengths for each instrument.
ALSO NOTE - Some instrument have two audition selections (ex. "First Trumpet" and "All other Trumpets").
Please select the part that you will have the most success on. The "First" part is harder, if you play this part in your audition you are telling me you would like to be considered for the first position, but you may not receive this spot and can be placed anywhere in the section.
Feel free to practice as much as you want, play along with others, find a recording, etc...
Auditions will be submitted as a recording. Please play all auditions sections in the same video, do not send them in as separate files if there are more than one sections, and do not edit them together.
NOTE - You MUST have a metronome going in the background of your audition. Start the met, give at least 8 clicks and then start your selection. When you are done with your selection stop the met, change the tempo if need be and follow the same process for the next selection.
TEMPO - Pick a tempo that is appropriate for the piece, but is also a tempo that you will be successful with.
Submission Process - Option 1 - Follow this LINK, fill out the form and upload your file and/or share a Google link. Option 2 - Send me an email at kgromis@easternyork.net or share a google folder to the same email address and include the information listed below:
