The the Grizzly Creek Fire that sparked on Monday, August 10th, 2020 and burned 32,631 acres (burn scar) has increased the risk of flash flooding and debris flows in Glenwood Canyon and across Interstate 70.  Learn More

During the summer of 2021, I-70 through the Glenwood Canyon closed multiple times for safety concerns due to the high risk of flash flooding during heavy rainfall.

It is likely that the Glenwood Canyon section of I-70 will remain in high risk for the next several years to include winter months as freezing and thawing can cause debris and rocks to loosen and fall.

Plan ahead and be prepared as safety closures of Glenwood Canyon are likely and possible at anytime, and during any season.

When planning travel along the I-70 corridor and through the Glenwood Canyon area, please check CoTrip.org for the most current information and alerts.
