My name is Mrs. Strahota and I will be your eighth grade Science teacher this year. This school year marks my 23rd year in education, and my 13th year at Mountain View, teaching 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th grades. I love teaching, and I love kids! The past twelve years I have also coached a Science Olympiad team, which competes with middle school students from across the state of Arizona in various STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) events. Science(and STEM!) has always been a passion of mine, and I am excited to have the opportunity to be all about Science, all day long!
I have been happily married to my husband for 24 years! We will celebrate our wedding anniversary on August third. I also have two daughters, named Amanda and Alaina. Amanda just graduated in 2019 with her Bachelor's Degree from ASU, majoring in Film and Media Studies. Alaina graduated from Shadow Ridge High School in 2019 and now attends ASU, majoring in Environmental Biology.
Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. I have visited 35 of the 50 states in the U.S.! Some of the places I have enjoyed the most are Hawaii, Colorado, and Wyoming. I am originally from the state of Michigan, so it holds a special place in my heart. It is on my bucket list to visit the rest of the 50 states, as well as visit all the National Parks. I would also really love to get to Europe one day.
My favorite place of all, however, is Disneyland! Over the years I have visited many times and have enjoyed watching it change and grow and become even more amazing! It truly feels like a second home. My favorite Disney character is Mickey Mouse, but I also like all other Disney characters. One might call me a "Disnerd"!!
We will have lots of fun learning together this year. My expectations are high-- You will work hard, develop "GRIT", and grow in Science like you never knew you could!
Smiles,
Mrs. Strahota
