Amy Yoo
Honorable delegates, student officers, advisors, and guests,
My name is Amy Yoo, a junior at Dwight School Seoul, and it is my honor to welcome you to the fifth iteration of the DAEMUN conference as one of the Deputy-Secretary-Generals.
As we navigate the complexities of our time, it's imperative to draw inspiration from a symbol of unparalleled resilience, strength, and adaptability. As a group, it is crucial to recognize that developments and changes are not always easy. It can be intimidating, disruptive, and even uncomfortable. However, despite the challenges, it provides us with an opportunity for growth, progress, and innovation.
Throughout history, humanity has faced various changes and obstacles. What has set us apart is our ability to adapt, to learn, and to create new paths forward. Whether it's advancements in technology, changes in social norms, or addressing global issues, our adaptability has been a cornerstone of progress. As a part of society today, our ability to adapt, learn, and collaborate will define how we navigate these changes.
Through this conference, I hope everyone can take one step further from their own barriers and challenge themselves. Open up the door to your mind, as the wide-opened door symbolizes our conference, DAEMUN. Inspire each other, question each other, and collaborate. I look forward to the fruitful debates and visionary resolutions that delegates will come up with throughout the conference!
Sincerely,
Amy Yoo

Selin Sohn
My name is Selin Sohn, a current sophomore at Dwight School Seoul, and it is my upmost honor to welcome you to the fifth year of DAEMUN as one of the Deputy-Secretary-Generals.
The world is currently evolving at an unprecedented and exponential pace, with technological, environmental, humanitarian, and geopolitical transformations that advance or hinder the developmental fate of our world, making it paramount to consider this year’s theme, “adapting to a rapidly changing world”, and it’s potential implications.
In adapting to this dynamic landscape, we just engage in rich and diverse discussion based in the mission and goal of the UN— which in this situation is to take actions that benefit the whole of humankind. Only through such collective engagement, can we as a society hope to construct effective and efficient strategies that stand the test of time in the face of our rapidly changing world.
Through DAEMUN V, I hope that everybody, not only delegates, are able to further understand the important issues and potential solutions of our society today, through fervent and thoughtful engagement. As we navigate the intricacies of our theme and agenda, I encourage everybody to share your insights, seek common ground, engage in open dialogue, and participate in open and respectful discussion. I look forward to seeing everybody in January, alongside the resolutions and discussions that will be made to forge a path to a more equitable and sustainable future.
