Our week was a great one especially that we got the chance to work on our monologues and look at the leader we chose from a closer angle. We had many opportunities to showcase our leadership qualities in and outside the classroom and it is really starting to pay off because we are getting more flexibility when making decisions and we are definitely leaving an influence on other PYP classes. We are very excited for next week as we will be presenting our monologue to the parents and the grade 4 students.

This week in Math, we learned all about the different methods of division and reviewed our learning so far this unit.
Next week, we will be learning all about different types of numbers - prime, factors and multiples.
This week, wrote our first drafts, peer and self-assessed, and typed our second draft following the criteria that we designed for our fables! It is really cool to design a part of our rubric as it reflects our understanding of fables. We also continued reading our levelled books and learned new vocabulary to enrich our oral and written discourse. In addition, we learned about phrases and their function in sentences.
Next week, we will be writing a fable in 60 minutes as a way to practice organizing our time and getting our thoughts on paper.
This week, we investigated the effects of air and environment factors on plant growth. We observed stomata and different plant parts under the microscope; we also wrote notes to document our observations.
Next week, we will investigate electric circuits.

We are excited to share that Renaissance Reading (our new reading platform that replaced A-Z) assessments are now completed, helping us better understand each student’s reading level and monitor their progress. Students can now access the Renaissance Reading platform (myON), where they can choose books matched to their individual reading level(based on ZPD & Lexile level), read independently, and complete quizzes to check their understanding. They can also search for other books under the browse section.
ZPD is the range of book difficulty that is considered an appropriate level of challenge for your child based on their reading assessment. It helps guide book recommendations for students to read,
A Lexile level is a measure used to describe the reading difficulty of a text and a reader’s reading ability.
We encourage students to use the platform regularly at home to develop their reading fluency, comprehension, and enjoyment of reading, alongside reading their leveled reader and library book that is sent home weekly. Once read on this platform, they can add to their reading record that is sent home daily.
