We compared our leadership qualities to those of recognised leaders and set goals for areas in leadership that we would like to develop further. As we will be interviewing leaders within our school community, the students created thoughful questions in preparation for their interview, Our focus was also on how to make decsions using De Bonos thinking hats.

This week in Math, we continued working with multi-digit whole numbers to 10 million, including the importance of the Base 10 number system through fluency practice, reasoning and problem solving.

Next week, we will continue working with big numbers to 10 million through the  multiplication of 2 digits by 2 digits and  4 digit by 2 digits using long multiplication. We will be further developing our mathematical reasoning and problem solving skills along the way.

This week, we looked at setting, character, and character traits in Fables and how these elements can be developed through the writers mood and setting. We analyzed different fables for various elements and then became experts on finding character traits and the impact the characters actions have on the fable. We also looked as different parts of a fable and placed them on a plot map to find all the different elements of a fable story, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and the resolution.

Next week, we will be looking at starting to write our first drafts of our fables, and include the features and elements of what makes a good fable in our first drafts. 

This week, we learned about classifying organisms using dichotomous keys in graphical and written forms. 

Next week, we will classify and differentiate flowering and nonflowering plants into groups based on adaptations and traits.

Read for at least 20 minutes per day and please fill out your reading journals/ logs (Every Thursday will be the deadline for submittal).
