I was the shiniest tool in the shed

I am anxious, but here I am with you

This is me doing my best and not dead.

I want to tell you this is my finest too

They told me the problem was in my mind

I regret ruining my potential.

My peers and I were not always aligned

Fell back on school work that was essential

Now I’m drunk on the floor of my bedroom.

This is me trying but it’s not enough

Without you I feel like an empty tomb

When you are not there getting up is tough

I want to tell you this is me trying,
