State Testing & Accountability

Grades 3-8

Will Students in Grades 3-8 have to make up the STAAR tests they missed?

  • No. Students in Grades 3-8 will not have to make up the STAAR tests they missed. They will skip testing for the 2019-2020 school year.

How will the elimination of testing impact 5th and 8th grade students who had to pass to promote to the next grade?

  • Fifth and eighth grade students will not be required to pass the Reading and Math STAAR tests this year and will be promoted to the next grade level if classes are successfully completed.

  • It depends. See chart below.

  • Students who are 2020 graduating Seniors that have not passed all of their EOC tests will be exempt from EOC tests but must complete any additional requirements assigned by the Individual Graduation Committee (IGC) and pass their courses in order to be eligible for graduation.
