Examples.: gr, grass, draw a picture of some grass. E.G.: dr, dragon, draw a picture of a dragon.

Making Inferences

The child will make inferences about what will happen in the story by reading and looking at the illustrations as the story is being read.

The reading skill your child is working on today is inferencing, the ability to figure out what is being said even though it might not be stated in the book.

Read The Book: No, David! - Animated Children's Book

David's mom is alway saying No to David, why does she say no when:

  • When he’s in the shower

  • When he bangs on the pans

  • When he goes to his room

  • When he’s playing baseball inside the living room

Draw attention to what David is doing throughout the story and have your child infer the outcome of his actions.

What do you think might happen to David if he continues to disobey Mom?

SAY: How does David feel at the end? Why is he feeling this way?

Have your child watch the video posted below and make shapes using household materials such as crayons, sticks, toothpicks, craft sticks, etc.

Video: The Shape Song #1
