The DSWD Planning Officers (PO) Conference is a major institutional activity of the Department of Social Welfare and Development that convenes all planning officers from the Central Office, Field Offices, Centers and Institutions, and attached agencies to strengthen coordination, knowledge-sharing, and alignment of planning functions across the organization. It serves as a comprehensive platform for disseminating updates on national government priorities, agency policies, guidelines, and performance management frameworks while also harmonizing approaches to results-based planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation. During the conference, planning officers collectively review the Department’s accomplishments against its strategic and operational targets, discuss performance gaps, and recommend solutions to improve program and service delivery. It also provides opportunities for peer learning and capacity building through workshops, technical sessions, and exchanges of best practices in planning, reporting, and data management. Beyond technical discussions, the PO Conference fosters stronger collaboration and unity among planning officers as a professional community, ensuring that their work is consistently responsive to the Department’s mandates, the Philippine Development Plan, and other national and international commitments. Ultimately, the DSWD PO Conference ensures that planning officers are fully equipped and strategically positioned to support evidence-based decision-making, resource allocation, and performance accountability, thereby enhancing the Department’s ability to deliver social protection and welfare programs effectively for the benefit of poor, vulnerable, and marginalized Filipinos.
