This will be a busy class where students will test their logins to the above programs. More advanced training will come in the following weeks.
(1) Freckle
Freckle helps K-4 teachers differentiate instruction and reach every student at their own level across Math, ELA, Social Studies and Science. It includes the entire grade level curriculum in each subject area and comes with practice questions, hints and videos to support learning and allow the student to move ahead.
(6) Google Drive
Google Drive is a cloud based platform for writing in documents, presentations, spreadsheets and drawing. With constant auto save and the ability to share and work collaboratively, Google Drive is one of the most productive tools on the internet.
In Grade 2 we deliver the most rigorous program possible. We practice using all of the buttons on the editing toolbar via a crazy letters class. In the next class students will practice inserting images into a document.
In the final class students will have the opportunity to EARN their Class C Google Driver's License.

Find an image from a COPYRIGHT FREE SOURCE like pixabay, Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons or Unslpash.
Practice dragging and dropping images into a document.
Centering images.
Cropping an image.
Resizing and moving an image.
(4) Class C Google Driver's License
Practice the following concepts and then do the driver's test to see if you qualify!
bold, italicize and underline | font size, color and style | text box | center, left and right align | change the title | copy and paste | undo and redo | tabs | create, open and reopening docs | create and moving folders | inserting and resizing images | filling out a form

XtraMath is a free web program that teaches addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts which are critical to success in mathematics.
(2) MLA Citation Machine
In this class, students will create MLA style citations as a way of saying thank you to the author for the use of their information.
Students will create a Google Document, find the information needed in a book, and then enter that data into a citation generator. The final product, the MLA citation, is then copy/pasted into the Google Doc. The goal in this activity is five citations in one class.

It's a 45 minute introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code" and show that anyone can learn the basics to be a maker, a creator, an innovator.
Google Slides Practice Presentation
Create Presentation and Title Slides
Log into Google Classroom.
Find the activity titled "Google Slides Practice Presentation"
Click on the activity.
Click on "Untitled Presentation" and type your animals name.
Create six slides.
On last slide title it "Bibliography"
NEW TAB bring up Wikipedia.
Type in your animals name.
Using the slide sorte box give each slide a title.
Insert Title Slide Image and Layering
Log into Google Drive.
Open up practice presentation.
NEW TAB open up Wikipedia with your animal.
Find best image of your animal.
Make sure it is landscape orientation.
Click on it to get the HD sized image.
Insert onto cover slide.
Right click on the image.
Select "Order"
Select "Send Image to Back"
Move titles to good locations and change the font color.
Insert Images and Finish Regular Slides
Log into Google Drive.
Open up the practice presentation.
NEW TAB open up Wikipedia with your animal OR Pixabay.
Find images.
Start inserting images onto slides.
Once completed, hit the "turn in" button to submit your slideshow for grading.

Ask family where your ancestors / family first came from and select a country / region to research.
Step 2
Create a Google Presentation and title it "My Family".
Step 3
Create and title at least six slides.
Step 4
Enter facts
Step 5
Enter pictures.
