Final Arranging Project- Edelweiss
Program Notes
Edelweiss is a piece written by Roger and Hammerstein for the movie The Sound of Music. Edelweiss is a flower found in the alps, which is where the sound of music takes place. Captain Von Trapp sings this to his family when he is rediscovering his love for music. The song is to show his family's Austrian patriotism when the Nazis are threatening to take over Austria and employ him. Von Trapp and his family sing edelweiss in their performance where they escape and flee to the alps. Edelweiss was Oscar Hammersteins last song before he died.
Wedding Project
I really enjoyed this project. It was nice to learn about each part of a wedding and what pieces are appropriate for each part. I feel like this will really help me in the future as a I continue to do weddings. My favorite part of this project was the day where we all walked across the "aisle" in the classroom. It was funny watching people object or get into fights. I also liked doing the wedding with theatre because I got to pretend to be an offensive grandma.
