The Neuron is Like a Tree
A neuron and a tree have both structural and functional similarities. The neuron's cell body, or soma, is like the trunk of a tree. The soma holds the nucleus, which directs the neuron's activities, just as the trunk supports the tree and helps move nutrients. Both serve as central hubs that connect different parts and ensure proper function.
Dendrites in a neuron are similar to tree branches. Dendrites receive signals from other neurons, much like how branches collect sunlight and nutrients. These structures extend outward to maximize their reach, increasing the neuron's ability to receive information and the tree’s ability to thrive. More dendrites and branches improve the efficiency of both systems.
The axon of a neuron functions like a tree’s roots. The axon sends electrical impulses away from the cell body, just as roots transport water and minerals to nourish the tree. Both structures stretch outward to connect with other systems—axons link neurons in the nervous system, while roots anchor the tree and draw nutrients from the soil.
At the end of the axon, synaptic terminals release neurotransmitters to communicate with other neurons. Similarly, tree roots interact with the environment, exchanging nutrients with soil and nearby plants. Both systems ensure survival by creating essential connections—neurons process and send signals, while trees share resources and maintain stability within an ecosystem.
Academic writing project
Detail and describe the difference between literary and scientific writing.
The difference between literary and scientific writing, is that scientific writing is concise while literary uses quotes and descriptions. Literary writing is used as a creative outlet while scientific writing is used to strictly give information. Scientific writing does not use any slang or conjugations. Literary writing can use any point of view. Scientific writing exclusively uses third person. Finally, literary writing is used to convey emotion while scientific writing is used to convey information. information.
Compare and contrast the four types of body tissues.
(Your opening sentence should always give an overview of the topics for discussion in the paragraph. Additional sentences should include the details: function, structure, types of each tissue.)
The four types of tissues are epithelial, connective, nervous, and muscle tissues. Each of these tissues are made up of a group of cells. Muscle tissue is used to line the bones, heart, and digestive tracts, while epithelial tissue lines the internal organs and skin. The nervous tissue lines the spinal cord (incomplete thought) and controls thoughts and speech. Connective tissue insulates the body with tissue such as blood and adipose, while epithelial tissues line cavities that lead to the outside of the body.
For this project me and my partner tarsh freeman created a travel guide for people who may want to know the prices for making such as trip. We created this project by using google slides to lay out our format and plugging in information.
For this assignment we created a game using makecodearcade.
