Unit 0 Reflections(APWH)
-When people began to become more sedentary, they also began to become more hostile over their land and special belongings. People started fighting, which led to war. Men assumed their role as leaders and left the women to take care of children or stay at home. This is how the Athenian civilization was. Due to the fact that religion was essentially made up by a person or a group of people, some people saw it as a joke or a threat to their civilization. For example, Christianity in the Roman Empire was not taken seriously by Nero. Nero was considered the harshest ruler of Rome. If you were a Christian in Rome you had to practice in secret. If you got caught you were fed to lions or burned alive. Religion and social class were the two biggest points to Hinduism. The Caste System, was a ranking system based off of gender, job, and skin tone. The Caste System was an early form of racism, gender inequality, dividing people by social class.
-Paper was created throughout the different Chinese dynasties. The idea of a mathematical system and early examples of simple machines were made in Egypt. They used these different things to assemble the pyramids. The early form of an alphabet was made by the Phoenicians. But, each dynasty or each civilization had their own form of communication. Hammurabi's code was the first form of law and rules. These inventions are just the foundation of what we use today in our everyday lives.
- Trade was not only a way to gain new materials, but also gain new knowledge of different cultures. When people traded different items, an item you get that might be considered common to one person, is considered rare to another. The Qin and Han dynasties invented the Silk Road. This was a monumental trade route that spread from China to certain parts of Europe. Trade helped gain an idea of was other cultures were like.
-A centralized government is a government where power is shared between different rankings. For example, if a lesser ranking government official wanted a new law to be passed, it would have to go to the Emperor or whoever is the top dog. Then it would have to make its way down in ranking from there. A decentralized government is where the power is given to one person. Meaning that person makes the big decisions for their civilization. For example, leaders in the Roman Empire did not like to share power during the time where they were searching for peace within the city.
-Egalitarian: There is mostly everything is equal and fair, no matter what gender or background you come from.
-Codify: When something is made official. Normally a religious text.
-Paleolithic Revolution: The period of time when people relied on hunting and gathering. This time period led to the creation of fire.
-Neolithic Revolution: The period of time when people relied of farming and civilization. Trade was created during this time.
-The Silk Road: This was a trading route that began in China and spread throughout Europe.
-Mesopotamia: This was the first civilization ever to be established and built.
Ela: Shaping Our World
8-31-23: We made norms on the group contract. As well as signed the contract.
9-5-23: We researched the different aspects of the Indus River Valley. We also came up with a plan of what we want our play to be.
9-7-23: We created out plot diagram. The plot diagram shows the layout of the story.
9-12-23: We began to work on our script. The script will contain the lines for the story.
9-15-23: We finished the work on our script. We also began to think of filming locations and costumes.
9-19-23: We reviewed our script with another group and received feedback. We also listened to another's group script and gave them feedback.
9-21-23: We determined what costumes and props we needed for the play. We also went though the script and highlighted direct and indirect characterization, and compound and complex sentences.
Summary: With this date we can show teachers and the school administration what students like and dislike. With this data they can fix certain things that students don’t enjoy. Through this summary we can see that many students prefer more hands on activities, an example of this is students enjoy science which is a lot of labs and experiments, also that students prefer homecoming over other school activities. Homecoming is hands on because it allows students to have an opportunities to dress up and have fun.
Reflection: From this survey I learned how to better organize data. I also learned how to give a non biased survey, and how to give surveys.
Spanish Dance 1st Listen(Harp) 7-31-24
I think this piece will sound like a romantic dance. I think it will be fast and very rhythmic. The piece is very lively. It kind of reminds me of a live flame. The piece is very groovy. I like the meter changes into the major sections. A challenge for me with this piece would be the trills and keeping those clean.
Sonata En Re 1st Listen(Harp) 8-9-24
I think this piece will sound bright and happy. The fact that it is in D major will help with the happy tone. I think it will be relatively quick but not too fast. I hope it is a slower piece, so that I can really enjoy every note that is being played.
-The piece sounds like it is in 3
-The piece is relatively quick
-There is a repeat of the beginning
I think the challenge for me in this piece will be the ornaments, as well as the cleanliness of the scales because they are quick.
Wade in the Water 1st Listen(Harp) 8-23-24
-The tapping or beating sound is a really effect.
-The groove of the actual melody is nice as well
-The gliss at the end was a very nice effect
-I think this piece will be very fun to play
-The part that will probably be the most difficult is the coordination between hands with the basline
Sleigh Ride Listening(Harp) 9-30-24
-I have heard this piece played many times during Winter, and Christmas time. The piece is very upbeat and is a staple for Christmas music.
- First Listen: The piece was very jolly and upbeat. I think the hardest part will be the chromatic parts and doing them smoothly with the pedals. I am excited to learn and perform the piece with my ensemble.
-Second Listen:
