Unit 0 Reflections(APWH)

-When people began to become more sedentary, they also began to become more hostile over their land and special belongings. People started fighting, which led to war. Men assumed their role as leaders and left the women to take care of children or stay at home. This is how the Athenian civilization was. Due to the fact that religion was essentially made up by a person or a group of people, some people saw it as a joke or a threat to their civilization. For example, Christianity in the Roman Empire was not taken seriously by Nero. Nero was considered the harshest ruler of Rome. If you were a Christian in Rome you had to practice in secret. If you got caught you were fed to lions or burned alive. Religion and social class were the two biggest points to Hinduism. The Caste System, was a ranking system based off of gender, job, and skin tone. The Caste System was an early form of racism, gender inequality, dividing people by social class.

-Paper was created throughout the different Chinese dynasties.  The idea of a mathematical system and early examples of simple machines were made in Egypt. They used these different things to assemble the pyramids. The early form of an alphabet was made by the Phoenicians. But, each dynasty or each civilization had their own form of communication. Hammurabi's code was the first form of law and rules. These inventions are just the foundation of what we use today in our everyday lives.

- Trade was not only a way to gain new materials, but also gain new knowledge of different cultures. When people traded different items, an item you get that might be considered common to one person, is considered rare to another. The Qin and Han dynasties invented the Silk Road. This was a monumental trade route that spread from China to certain parts of Europe. Trade helped gain an idea of was other cultures were like.

-A centralized government is a government where power is shared between different rankings. For example, if a lesser ranking government official wanted a new law to be passed, it would have to go to the Emperor or whoever is the top dog. Then it would have to make its way down in ranking from there. A decentralized government is where the power is given to one person. Meaning that person makes the big decisions for their civilization. For example, leaders in the Roman Empire did not like to share power during the time where they were searching for peace within the city.

-Egalitarian: There is mostly everything is equal and fair, no matter what gender or background you come from.

-Codify: When something is made official. Normally a religious text.

-Paleolithic Revolution: The period of time when people relied on hunting and gathering. This time period led to the creation of fire.

-Neolithic Revolution: The period of time when people relied of farming and civilization. Trade was created during this time.

-The Silk Road: This was a trading route that began in China and spread throughout Europe.

-Mesopotamia: This was the first civilization ever to be established and built.

Mandala Project

The Electron Mandala integrated steam by using different shapes and patterns that have geometric properties of them. 

1-3-24 Algebra 2 Reflection

Last semester I could have been a better test taker. I completed classwork on time, and did not have to worry about missing work too much. The best way to learn for me was doing practice problems. My goals for this semester is to have no missing assignments or as little as possible. I would like to do hands on projects. 

1-3-24 Borax Crystals

Borax is a form of salt. It is made from Boron, sodium, and oxygen. We used hot water in order to super saturate the borax. As the water cools the water becomes less and less saturated. This forms a crystal. My 3D sculpture is dynamic because of the loops in the design.
