In this Spanish practice activity we had to write a short story in Spanish utilizing our recent story description unit vocabulary in past tense. This assignment really helped me practice my conjugation skills in Spanish it also helped with my describing people skills which can sometimes be tricky. I had some trouble using the right preterit tense conjugations but after multiple checks of my rough draft with Mr. Martz I eventually figured it out. My story was about a little timid girl named Nami who wished to be more loud "alta" but instead got turned into a cat "gata/o".
Scenario - Your school has received a grant to help students experience the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures first-hand. Your class will be going on a 1-week trip to a Spanish speaking country to better their Spanish and deepen their understanding of the culture...but which country?
For this Project I got the country of Mexico. This project took the skill of knowledge, vocabulary, and creativity to plan a hypothetical class trip to Mexico where we could learn about the countries food, history, and culture. Choosing what do for the trip was a challenge with so many options. However I narrowed it down to the best learning experiences
project:
you will research their cuisine to find a recipe for a main dish PLUS either an appetizer or a dessert. Then, you will simplify the recipes to state the ingredients and instructions IN SPANISH using our class vocab and grammar notes.
For this Project I got the country of Paraguay and i chose to do the natational dish of Sopa Paraguay which translates to Paraguay soup although its fairly similar to cornbread. For the dessert I chose dulce de batata which is essentially sweet potato candy which is popular in Paraguay. then I translated the recipes from English to Spanish using our own vocab list and word refrence.com and conjugated it to command form.
