I chose my artist threw initial first thought of who’s art I admire the most since he drew my favorite show and story in existence I choose eiichiro oda and in my artwork I represented a character from his greatest work “one piece”. Originally there was a more zoomed out perspective in my artwork however in order to work with the oil pastels better I went with a zoomed in closer perspective of my sketch since the oil pastels carry a thicker line weight.
This was a combustion/flame reaction. The elements/Compounds involved were oxygen and carbon. The reaction between the spoon and flame created soot that dark soot is used to make the "lampblack" ink when combined with alcohol. This ink is used in letters and paintings for art. it worked fine but if there was a greater metal surface wed probably would have made more soot and ended up with darker ink.
chemistry relates to making paper In order to have paper, chemistry must be put to use. Paper is created from usually organic compounds such as carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen. The main ways chemistry is used in creating paper is when the lignin is dissolved in the water and taken from the cellulose. next way chemistry is used is when the fibrils from the cellulose bond together to form a compact structure called paper.
hand made paper could be a formula since Paper is created from usually organic compounds such as carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen and water is made to make it all those elements could create a chemical formula.
The Dye on the broken brush forms a covalent bond with the paper causing the dye to spread through out the paper while brushing. the dye also reacted to the water molecules making the black dyes pigment become washed out becoming a blueish tone. the overall painting had a mix of pure dye bond and dye bond that was manipulated by dipping the brush in the water.
We experiment with the covalent bonding of dye onto fabric. we tested how different substances might stop the bonding from happening in certain areas to make patterns in the fabric. Our table tried to use wax however it didn't work when baking soda was added to the purple blueberry dye it turned green. This is because the baking soda raises it to an alkaline level which changes the anthocyanins from blue to green.
my woven work represents the concept of a covalent bond in chemistry similar to the paper weaving done with a partner. This heart shaped loom I made can be compared to the bonds elements compounds have.
Our woven work represents the concept of a covalent bond in chemistry. Each woven piece connects with the others, symbolizing how atoms in a covalent bond share electrons to form a stable connection. Just as the woven strands interlace to create a cohesive structure, the atoms in a covalent bond work together to form a whole piece.

Food for thought
Artist statement
The goal was to represent food insecurity around the world and the mix of culture relating to food due to the Colombian exchange. Each classes assignments were centered around food and the perception of it in science we did a project on food desserts researching the nutrients behind certain foods and creating a policy to prevent spread of lack of healthy foods. In history we learned about the spread of different foods across the world leading to the mass amount of diverse foods across the world.
we made pottery representing different areas across the world and based it on the perception of food and its scarcity across the world. I decided what to make based on the area of the world I chose which was the Caribbean. I searched up pictures of Caribbean pottery and made things commonly found in the Caribbean area out of clay. I used the slab and slip techniques to craft my items. It relates to the Colombian exchange since the things I made are things commonly found in the Caribbean and most likely traded during the exchange for other goods outside of the area. what worked for me was the shaping of my pottery what didn't work was the glaze not everything came out in the exact color or hue I wanted it to. if I had more time id probably try again with the glaze.

Periodic table element art
Artist statement
I combined STEAM into this project by choosing a element from the periodic table(Helium) and doing research on such finding out its mass symbol electrons etc. and incorporating it into my art. I learned about its uses in society the history behind its name its family and group and more. I was creative by incorporating its uses into my drawing like balloons and even pop culture characters associated with balloons into my piece.
My art looks like a mural of balloons including the elements name symbol and atomic number with balloon themed characters scattered all across the page using elements of art such as line shape. The most important principles of designs I used have to be shape and space since its the focal point of my art as well as color. I used them to help make my piece look good by giving each balloon and aesthetically pleasing rounded shape same with the character I drew on my work.

Mandalas research
Mandalas used to focus the mind in meditation, teach people in religious training, and guide a meditating person to spiritual healing and enlightenment.
Mandalas have been used as a meditative tool in the belief systems of Jainism, Buddhism, and Shintoism, and they show up in Persian art, Mesoamerican architecture, Celtic art, and more.
you can see balance, unity/repetition and contrast in mandala art and clear intention.
you could use symmetry and shapes as well as color contrast to represent an atom in a mandala

But is it Art??
Art to me is something that you put thought and emotion into. an idea that you put passion into executing, a way you can express your self and continue to improve on doing so. I think art can be seen as something outstanding as well as comforting to both the artist and there audience that view said art. There are so many subjects that art can be seen in other than its own for example in literature a well written poem or even a thought provoking novel can be seen as art since it makes you see the views of others. In history mythical stories such as tales of Icarus and the lessons they are made to teach can be seen as something to marvel at and something that can make you think just as art does. Art can be seen in many different things and viewed in many ways.
