In dance, we were told to find a poem written by African American poet and come up with an entire plan and layout for that dance. Out of the 3 groups that were created we would choose 1 to showcase in this performance. This was completely student-led from costumes to choreography. Our dance was inspired by the poem "Where is our light" by Roen Higgins and was supposed to represent and stand for mental illness. In previous classes, we were given prompts in different groups to create a certain amount of 8 counts as we built on that we eventually taught the entire class and determined the order in which our choreography should go in and what we needed to add or take out for later in the piece. Our dance then later was presented at our Page to the Stage performance. (Very last dance is my class)
