To volunteer means to give your time and effort to help others without getting paid. This can include helping out at a food bank, tutoring younger students, cleaning up parks, or working with community groups.
Drew might require students to volunteer for 100 hours during high school to help them grow as people. Volunteering teaches responsibility, teamwork, and compassion. It also helps students see the needs in their communities and understand how they can make a difference. Plus, it can look good on college and job applications, showing that you care about more than just yourself.
After school for service hours I volunteer for extra show. I've done almost every type of show at this point from Chorus concerts to Dance performances. My roles vary between shows with me either working in the booth on lights or backstage working with kids and transitions. I've also done Space is the New Place for the Technical Theater department and designed along with Ms.Fores to create an perspective of how backstage works. During volunteering I've met several Art directors and others who have done major programs with Theater.
