For this project, we created a dessert and pottery. In ELA, I worked in a group, and we all took ingredients from our favorite desserts and created a mixture of all of them. The finished product was a dish called Cookie Dream Pie, This dish has whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, Oreos, strawberries, and pie crust. For ChemVAS, I worked in a group creating pottery that a nation from the 15th century might have used. In the end, my group created a colorful dining set that someone from the late 15th century could have used.
This document is the idea development of our food for thought project. I worked on this project with 3 other group members. Together we combined our favorite dishes together and developed a dish. In the end we created the idea of a Cookie Dream Pie. My contribution to this dish was the wiped cream on top of the dish. This comes from my favorite desert, Chocolate Delight. My Nana makes this dish during family gatherings, and it is still my favorite desert till today.
This is our recipe card. It was created with ingredients and directions on how to make this dish. The major ingredients are the pie crust, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, Oreos, and strawberries. All these ingredients were picked from my and my group members' favorite desserts. Creating the dish wasn't hard, with the layering of ingredients and the final touch-up of strawberries.
In total, I made the dish at home and brought it to school the next day. I enjoyed the dish, and I think others did too. I enjoyed this part of the project thoroughly and found it fun to be able to make food for a project.
This was the final part of our project, which was incorporating what we learned in the while reading Persepolis into our project. For this slide show I worked together with 3 other members and split the work evenly. My major contribution to this project was the research slides and connected the book with evidence of real life.
In art we created a slideshow that includes the research and other aspects of this project. My major contribution to this project was the information found in the research. In total, we decided on bright colors and more basic shapes for our pottery.
In the photos shown on the left we have 5 pieces of pottery. I personally made the 2 plates and the smallest bowl. This process took quite a while due to the many steps it takes to create pottery. The first step is one of the biggest steps due to it choosing your entire design. In class, for each design, we were shown technics on how to mold the shape of the clay into the desired shape. Personally, I found doing plates the easiest, mainly due to only having 4 steps. These steps for the plates also helped me practice for making my bowl, which was much more difficult. This was mainly because, the bowl needed a smooth curve, without bumps.
