This project was about researching and creating a short skit about an ancient civilization of our choice. For this project I choose Ancient Rome, and in ELA I created a short skit about betrayal and the harsh world of Rome. In World History we did an entry event on how to make mud bricks as well as bamboo structures. Finally in Geometry we created a slide show with a green screen for skits in ELA.
Understanding the achievements and cultural legacies of ancient civilizations enriches our appreciation of contemporary diverse cultures in several ways. Many modern societies are influenced by ancient traditions, philosophies, and practices. Recognizing these connections helps us understand how cultures evolve and adapt over time, fostering respect for both historical roots and modern expressions.
The photos shown, are the photos of the end results.
During this event we created mud bricks as well as bamboo structures. We did this to see of what life was like for people living in ancient civilizations. The photo shown is of me, creating the mud.
This was a background I created for Geometry. The ancient civilization I had was Rome, so I decided to create a Polis. A Polis is a government building that usually was the main building of city state.
This is the team contract that everyone in my group agreed to sign. This contract insured that everyone does their part in filming and creating the film. I can say in hindsight this did help, but really didn't make a difference in group ethics.
The chart shown is basically our research document and it has most the information that was impeded in the film. Everyone had a part in researching a specific part of the civilization. For example, I had economics. So, I went into detail about the Roman's economy. From my research I found that the backbone of their economy came from trading. This made the Roman Empire incredibly wealthy and the more land they concurred, the more natural resources they had to trade.
This is the progress that we have so far for our chart, the main plan for the play is gonna be the fall of the Roman Empire. It is meant to also show the corruption within the empire it's self. The characters we have so far are: The Emperor, 2 Guards, Emperor's servant, and Senator.
Today we worked out all of the problems with our recording devices. This included connection problems as well as our mics being dead to begin with. We also figured out how our costumes go together, and what scene to do. By the time we completed these tasks we had ran out of time to film. In hindsight I could clearly see how did not manage time wisely .
Today we finally started recording, and in doing so found the usefulness of a green screen. So, for the 1st scene we used the only green screen that was not already used. This can with a couple of issues, such as it being too small as well as that we hand to stand it on table to contort to the height of one of my group members. From this we learned that maybe next time we should try to get a hold of the bigger green screen. In the end we did end up completing the first scene, which is the longest scene.
Today we recorded the 2nd scene and started the recording on the 3rd scene. Even though we tried use the green screen today, we were unable because of the amount of people who were waiting to use it as well. So instead, we decided to use the patio by the 11th grade hallway. This worked well because it is nice secluded from most of the noise of the school. Funny enough my character was killed in this scene. In total today was a great day of recording and I hope that our finally day is productive.
For the final day of recording we did the 3rd and the 4th scene. These were the shortest scenes but by far have the most happening in them. The second person I play actually kills someone and takes control of the empire. In our skit was about the corruption within the roman empire and some of the achievements of the roman empire itself.
