In class we are making a wooden phone holder, with a bandsaw and a nail gun. The challenge is to make it look appealing.
These are some ideas that I have for a design.
Regie: gluer and measurer
Jamauri: Nailgunner
Langston: wood picker
Some nail gun safety rules are that don't point the gun at other people, don't leave you hands under the nail gun while nailing.
Some Bandsaw safety is keep you fingers out of the way of the saw and to make sure to go slowly to prevent a jam/snap of the saw blade.
This sketch was made by Jamauri, the plan was made by Regie. Our plan is to have slit to hold the phone.
In the end the stand was a taller than we wanted, but turned out well and actually works!
8/23 CUSTOM BOX
We started with a big piece of wood that we cut down into multiply smaller pieces a was shared among the class. Then we again used the table saw to cut the width down of wood. We also ended up using the planer to cut down the height and smooth it out.
We used the miter saw to cut down our wood into smaller 8 inch pieces of wood. We put tape around wood to keep ever thing to together.
To do this, we connected 3 pieces of wood together using the the biscuit joiner. First we marked holes to cut and cut into them. Then we glue/put biscuits into the holes. finally we connected biscuts to the holes and glue them together. We repeated these steps for each piece of wood.

This is what we insert into the hole we cut to connect the the wood.
The box turned out will even though there are some problems. Such as the like being warped and the staining was not fully
The nail gun can be used for nailing small and large pieces of wood together.
Some Nail Gun safety rules are that don't point the gun at other people, don't leave you hands under the nail gun while nailing.
This is used for cutting large pieces of wood in half and other sections.
Some Table Saw safety rules is to keep your hands away from the saw. Also have a partner for very long piece to catch the other end.
The planer saw is used to shorten the width of and smooth wood out.
Here are a couple of rules for the Planer Saw. You must wear ear and eye protection. Make sure the cutting thickness is within 1/16" before cutting. Keep fingers away from the opening and only wood can go through the planer.
The miter saw is used to cut pieces of wood at an angle or just in to more wood.
Some safety rules with the miter saw are, keep your hands and arms away from the blade. The saw blade takes some material with it so, make sure to remeasure everytime after you cut.
The biscuit cutter is used to cut indents into wood so you can connect pieces together.
Here are some safety rules for the Biscuit cutter. First is to hold down the front part to stabilize the front. Also make sure to firmly hold the back to make a clean cut.
The Orbital sander is use to sand down pieces of wood making the surface smoother.
Here are some safety rules for the Orbital sander. First make sure to hold down your object on a firm surface. Secondly use your dominant hand to hold the sander, and your nondominant to hold your object down. Finally make sure occasionally empty out the sawdust container on the back of the sander. (make wood putty/doesn't become overflowed.
For this assignment me and my partner debugged and labeled what each line of code does.
Elements of the event will be rehearsed after school on Thursday,

Brief: a document that outlines the problem you're trying to solve and what you want toachieve with your design. Include purpose, requirement, constraints, timeline (duedates), and materials.Research: this is your chance to utilize the world wide web to find information andinspiration for what you’d like to create. Look at what people who’ve already done the
project have done. Challenge yourself and do what hasn’t been done already. Tweakand refine works that you think could look better. Include information on the plant you decide to become inspired by and include what it symbolizes.
Idea Development: This is your time to brainstorm and use your imagination. Sketch and draw out designs. Do multiple drafts. (Minimum 5 sketches)
Prototype: This is when you get more hands on and experiment with what you drew. Make it 3D using cheap material like cardboard. See what works and what doesn’t. Get feedback from your classmates and document it.
Test & Iterate: Build! Build! Build! By now you should know how to use the bandsaw and/ or the laser cutter. Decide on which tool you’d like to use and how dense you need your material(wood) to be.
Communicate Your Soultion: (Presentations) This is a chance to show what you’vecreated and explain your ideas. Take pictures from different angles. Talk about the flower you were inspired by and what it symbolizes. What challenges did you face? Answer questions and receive feedback. We will go over presentation etiquette and audience etiquette.
This project we are create a piece of art made out of wood that is inspired by a plant of flower. This project is due on April 19th.
Attached, you'll find essential information about our ongoing project. This project serves as an opportunity for us to express our gratitude and appreciation for our teachers' tireless efforts. It's a chance to showcase their unwavering commitment and the significant role they play in our academic and personal growth. As the deadline approaches on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024, I urge you to channel your creativity and passion into crafting your final Google Sites Documentation

This was my first design and it included on all the basic elements.
This is my second design, after seeing the results of my classmates 3d cut. I fixed it to make it better and cut right.
the final turned out well. I am especial proud of how the letters turned out. In the end I went fo the pencil holder for my father which is a teacher.
